KOORELOO x Benaki museum

KOORELOO is a fashion brand which has created a line of impressively distinguishable products that never fail to stand out from the crowds. The brand’s DNA derives directly from blending together the idiosyncratic personality of our designer Leila Karr with local materials, traditional weave and luxurious one-of-a-kind fabrics, that come directly from the glorious heritage of Greece. Our handbags are handcrafted with exceptional care and are better described as art objects.
Our eagerness for more inspiration and further creation has lead our brand to experiment with more extraordinary materials that can be found in the Benaki Museum/Mentis –Antonopoulos (‘NEMA’) Passementerie.

KOORELOO proudly presents 'OLYMPIA'.

The Benaki Museum / Mentis - Antonopoulos (‘NE.M.A’)

The Benaki Museum / Mentis - Antonopoulos (‘NE.M.A’) Passementerie is a rare survival of passementerie manufacture which still produces ribbons, braids and tassels using age-old methods. For over one-and-a-half centuries, its products (galloons, ornamental cords, piping, braids, fringes, tassels, ‘Brandebourg’ frogging, curtain tiebacks) decorated Greek traditional and theatrical costumes, clerical vestments, military uniforms and couture creations in Greece and abroad. Today, while production continues, visitors are offered the opportunity to follow each step of how silk is processed and how thread is crafted by hand into masterpieces. NEMA promotes the learning and preservation of traditional crafts while supporting contemporary artists.

OLYMPIA STADIUM

'OLYMPIA' is inspired by the ancient stadium of Olympia which was the birthplace of the most famous and important sporting event in the ancient world.  It was also a place where remarkable works of art and culture were created and shared to worship the Greek god Zeus. It is this melding of history and the molding of modernity that makes this site so special. The Olympic Games in the times of ancient Greece were about more than sport. They represented peace and the nobility of competition. These ideals and elements of the events have continued to this day and great artists, such as Pheidias, put stamps of inspiration and creativity there, offering unique artistic creations to the world.
